TrendiTech, a Canadian robotics startup focused on innovative food waste and up-cycling solutions, announced it is serving as an official sponsor of this year’s South by Southwest, an iconic annual event which rallies techies from across North America to Austin, Texas for a week of networking, learning, and fun.
Attendees of the event are invited to discover Trendi’s food waste technology, taste samples of up-cycled drinks, and engage in a food waste video games and AR activation. They will also have the opportunity to meet Trendi cofounder Carissa Campeotto.
Last year the Burnaby-born company raised a seed round and was also named a semi-finalist in the Government of Canada’s Food Waste Reduction Challenge.
At SXSW, Trendi is promoting The Pledge to Stop Food Waste, which is intended to make food waste reduction part of a lifestyle and encourage more long-term, sustainable operations. Participants who make The Pledge to Stop Food Waste at Trendi’s Red River activation will collect an exclusive NFT created in partnership with SXSW and Blockchain Creative Labs.
“We are thrilled to make our debut at this internationally recognized conference that celebrates and encourages technological advances to global issues,” says Campeotto. “We look forward to introducing Trendi and sharing our work with thought leaders in the industry.”
Campeotto says her startup’s ultimate mission at SXSW is to galvanize more people to join the anti-food waste movement.
