It’s been well documented that the pandemic disproportionately reduced venture capital funding for female founders last year, despite a greater boom in fundraising thanks to megafunds and the rise of Zoom investing.
In an effort to reverse that trend locally, TiE Vancouver is bringing the well-established TiE Women program to Vancouver.
TiE Vancouver is part of TiE Global Angels, an umbrella organization representing the TiE chapters in North America and their affiliated angel groups. Founding chapters include Silicon Valley, Boston, and Vancouver.
Aimed at supporting female founded startups towards raising seed capital, TiE Women is an annual program for mentoring, advising, and providing investor access to female founders.
In the last two years, over 3,000+ women from 25+ countries have participated in TiE Women workshops and programs for more than 5,000 hours of mentoring. The program culminates in a global pitch competition in Dubai with a representative from each chapter competing for USD $100,000 equity-free prize money.
Spearheaded by Maninder Dhaliwal, TiE’s Vancouver chapter is launching TiE Women locally with the aim of mentoring 12 BC based female founders and sending one chapter winner to the global pitch competition to compete for the big prize.
Apply now to participate. There is no cost for founders and the application deadline is May 15th.
