There are at least 50 reasons to be optimistic about climate change in Canada.
Corporate Knights this month revealed what it dubs the Future 50: the fifty fastest-growing green companies in the country.
“Our objective was to identify outstanding Canadian entrepreneurs and companies that are gaining significant traction in the fight against carbon – with exciting new solutions that most of the world hasn’t discovered yet,” wrote Rick Spence.
“The result: a power-packed list of companies whose products and services bring bold new ideas to the sustainability front – and raise hopes that we can win the climate war,” added Susanne Ruder.
BC companies on the list include Vancouver’s Modern Plant-Based Foods (#2) , Organto (#6), and The Very Good Food Company (#7). The recently public Loop Energy from Burnaby (#8) and Greenlane Renewables (#10) round out the top ten for public firms.
On the private side there is Svante (#2), Squamish-based Carbon Engineering (#8), and Ionomr Innovations (#10).
In all, there are 17 companies representing British Columbia in the Future 50 of Canada, or roughly one-third of the total. Not bad at all, BC!
