Telus has returned its #StandWithOwners program for a third consecutive year, recommitting $1 million in funding to help Canadian businesses.
The tech titan says it is important to spotlight “the critical role” that small and medium sized businesses play in Canada’s economy, noting that more than 50% of employment growth in 2021 came from SMEs.
Describing SMEs as a “key pillar of our economy,” Telus will recognize businesses across Canada who are using technology to innovate and help their business grow while also driving meaningful change in their communities, according to a statement from the company.
“Small businesses are the heart of our communities; they bring character to our neighbourhoods and play a pivotal role in driving our economy forward,” said Navin Arora, President of Telus Business Solutions. “Telus has always been a proud supporter of Canadian business and we work hard to empower these owners to grow and achieve even more success.”
Each company selected by Telus—based on their “stories of community impact and how technology is enhancing their business”—receives $10,000 in capital funding, a $10,000 personalized local advertising campaign, and $5,000 in technology prizes from Telus and partners. There is also one grand prize: a custom “technology makeover”valued at $50,000.
Applications are open until September 18.
Telus last month announced a $17 billion investment in BC to build and upgrade network infrastructure, operations, and spectrum across the province—a move expected to generate more than 5,000 jobs in the region through 2026.
