Vancouver startup Livshows wants to make AR accessible to all; last year it launched a no-code platform that allows anyone to publish immersive augmented reality experiences directly to the web.
Now Livshows is partnering up with Foot Locker Vancouver to launch Immersify.
Immersify is described by the companies as an interactive art competition for creatives that “combines sneaker culture with the pure creative expression of augmented reality.”
“Feeling creative?” they ask. Artists can apply by submitting some basic information and 200 words on the topic: “Tell us what inspires you about Vancouver and how has sneaker culture shaped the city.”
“Our goal [is] to make the creation of AR experiences effortless and intuitive,” Livshows told Techcouver last year.
Creatives like Borna, Digital Designer at Aritizia and Lead Designer at HICU, forge careers from pushing boundaries of new mediums and their associated tools.
“My design environment is usually 2-D, but Livshows created such an accessible way to design 3-D,” he said, “Allowing me to seamlessly publish immersive augmented reality experiences that my audience can step into in their living room.”
Augmented reality is “no longer gimmicky but rather a powerful tool to provide added value for users,” Livshows affirms. “There is no app download required, erasing a massive point of friction to attract and onboard new users. It removes any friction point as users try to access the experience.”
The grand prize of the Immersify art competition is a $500 Foot Locker Gift Card.
