If you’re a regular reader of this site, then you already know the following:
BC’s thriving tech sector employs more than 123,000 people, contributes 7% to the provincial GDP, and is home to a growing number of startups that are solving the world’s most pressing challenges.
Looking back just a handful of years, our startup community consisted of names like AbCellera, Clio, Galvanize, and Terramera. Now, these same companies are the ones winning awards, announcing record-breaking raises, and completing billion dollar exits.
Today, we have startups deploying solar powered autonomous boats to collect real-time data that can protect our oceans. We have companies doubling the supply of universal donor blood to save lives in emergency situations. We even have startups partnering with Dragons, Comedians, and multi-platinum selling rappers.
Over the last year, our startups joined forces with industry titans like Microsoft, Deloitte, and RBC to rapidly develop and deploy innovative solutions to curb the effects of COVID-19.
Simply put — we have a lot of startups doing a lot of great things that we need to celebrate.
That’s why Switchboard is extremely excited to partner with Techcouver on a new Startup of the Week series.
Every Friday, we’ll drop a new interview with one of the province’s top startups where you’ll learn about everything from how they got their start to what keeps them up at night. Our goal is to showcase BC’s next wave of superstar startups that are competing internationally and making the world a better place through homegrown innovation.
We hope you enjoy the series. And if you want to be featured, drop us a line at startups@switchboardpr.com.
See you next Friday!
