Vancouver’s TraceSafe is making moves in the oil & gas space. The BC Tech Award finalist has landed Oil Search, a responsible energy company, as a wearables client.
Oil Search is the largest oil and gas exploration and development company in Papua New Guinea and operates all of Papua New Guinea’s oilfields. Founded in 1929, it is now one of Papua New Guinea’s largest companies, and in 2006 was responsible for 13% of Papua New Guinea’s gross domestic product.
TraceSafe’s wearable technology will be used to ensure health and safety of Oil Search employees, contractors and site visitors in their Papua New Guinea oil field operations.
TraceSafe’s solution for Oil Search will include their new high-capacity BLE beacons and cloud platform and the agreement is for one-year and includes a two-year renewal option.
“The industrial IoT market (IIoT) is predicted to reach $1.11 Trillion USD by 2027 as the industry is undergoing an IoT revolution,” said Wayne Lloyd, CEO of TraceSafe. “We are excited to see our IoT products improve operations and enhance safety in the industrial sector.”
Among the industries that have adopted TraceSafe’s technology are cruise lines where they’ve signed a number of multi-year tech agreements with global tier-1 transportation firms.
TraceSafe was also chosen by a Fortune 500 semiconductor manufacturer to implement a wearable safety tech solution across their global footprint of 60,000 workers.
