Ottawa-headquartered Earnscliffe Strategies announced today the acquisition of Vancouver’s Switchboard Public Relations.
If you’re a regular visitor to Techcouver, then you’ve heard of Switchboard.
Led by Founder Kathleen Reid, the Switchboard crew is responsible for Techcouver’s popular monthly series that connects the dots between the trends, headlines and narratives informing the B.C. tech sector.
The acquisition will combine the world-class experience, expertise and resources of Earnscliffe, a national leader in strategic communications, government relations and opinion research, with Switchboard’s trailblazing team of connectors, problem-solvers and storytellers.
Much of the Switchboard’s success to date has been in supporting emerging, fast-scaling and publicly-traded clients in tech and innovation ecosystems spanning cleantech, life sciences/biotech, quantum computing, agtech, fintech, and SaaS.
According to Reid, ten year-old Switchboard was Western Canada’s first tech-focused PR firm. With offices in Ottawa, Toronto, Saskatoon and Vancouver, the acquisition will extend Switchboard’s reach across North America.
“The Switchboard team is known for first-class execution and a savvy understanding of the technology ecosystem. The addition of Switchboard enables Earnscliffe to strengthen our marketplace position, expand our solution offerings, and accelerate our growth,” said Earnscliffe CEO Craig Robinson.
Interesting side note: Reid negotiated this deal while pregnant with her second child, due in just a few weeks. Post acquisition, and maternity leave, Reid will pivoting from Chief Communications Officer to that of Principal and Partner with Earnscliffe.
