THRIVE has announced the winners of this year’s THRIVE | Shell Climate-Smart Agriculture Challenge and Vancouver’s Lucent Bio has taken home the Scale-Up Award.
Lucent Bio delivers crop nutrition that improves yield and soil health while sequestering carbon and was recently named to the Foresight 50.
The THRIVE | Shell Climate-Smart Agriculture Challenge aims to identify and support top start-up and scale-up innovators who are driving the global transformation to climate-smart agriculture practices. The challenge aligns with Shell’s Powering Progress strategy and the U.N.’s Sustainable Development Goals.
The five winners were chosen from the applicant pool of nearly 400 startups from 63 countries and now have the opportunity to showcase their solutions at Shell House at SXSW in Austin.
In 2021 Lucent Bio raised a $4.2 million seed round investment from Emmertech, Amathaon, SVG Ventures, WUTIF Capital, Vantec/eFund and Vancouver-based angel investors.
