The founder of the Fully Charged Show, UK YouTuber Robert Llewellyn, brought a version of his annual live event to Canada in 2023 after being inspired by the province’s clean energy infrastructure.
“The reason we’re coming to Vancouver is because of BC Hydro and the attitudes in BC around clean energy,” Llewellyn told BC Hydro in 2022. “You’re largely hydroelectric powered.”
This year, the event rebranded to Everything Electric Canada while promising an even greater exhibition of innovation at the same venue, Vancouver’s iconic waterfront Convention Centre.
“Following a hugely successful launch in 2023, Everything Electric Canada promises to be even bigger this year, doubling in size with more exhibitors, extended test drive activations, and new features,” organizers offered prior to the event.
Everything Electric, which took place over the weekend, saw a range of innovations on display, including from local sources. For example, Burnaby-based ENVO revealed a new product at the show.
The all-new ENVO UPT is a highly modular electric utility vehicle “designed to cater to a diverse range of industries, providing a robust, adaptable solution that transcends the capabilities of conventional utility vehicles,” according to its creators.
With a chassis resembling a golf cart but offering extensive customization, the UPT can be configured for a multitude of tasks, from home improvement jobs to backcountry rescue missions and more, according to Ali Kazemkhani, chief executive officer of ENVO.
“The UPT represents a leap forward in our journey,” stated Kazemkhani. “With its adaptable framework, the UPT is poised to redefine urban planning, emergency responses, and leisure, ensuring that our technology makes meaningful difference in people’s lives and in the environment.”
The entrepreneur is aiming to craft the smartphone of mobility—a Swiss army knife with wheels.
“Just like the smartphone in your pocket, the UPT aims to be the only thing you need in your garage,” Kazemkhani said. “Once you see it in action, you’ll witness the revolution set to unfold in micromobility.”
