The nomination deadline for the annual Cleantech Awards approaches.
The 2025 Cleantech Awards are set to spotlight exceptional companies and individuals advancing innovation, economic leadership, and technology adoption across Canada’s cleantech sector.
This year, there are regional awards for British Columbia, Alberta, and Atlantic Canada, with nominations open for each region through February 20th. For B.C., a cleantech powerhouse, it’s the province’s sixth annual rendition.
Award nominees will be honoured at in-person celebrations starting with Vancouver in March, then Halifax in April, and concluding with Calgary in May. The Vancouver event will be held on March 26.
To cover the full spectrum of contributors to the ecosystem, the 2025 Cleantech Awards are broken down into distinct categories as follows Venture of the Year (Startup); Venture of the Year (Scaleup); Adopter of the Year; Cleantech Supporter of the Year; and Funder of the Year.
In 2024, Startup of the Year was Arca, while the title of Scaling Venture of the Year went to Intelligent City. Peter Bradshaw was named Community Advocate of the Year while the Corporate Pioneer of 2024 was BC Hydro.
Ecosystem Supporter of the Year was awarded to Creative Destruction Lab and BC Centre for Innovation & Clean Energy earned Funder of the Year. Sarah Applebaum of Pangaea Ventures scored Investor of the Year while UBC’s MEL CEEN Program was recognized as Training Institution of the Year.
UBC’s Vikramaditya Yadav was named Educator of the Year. Kym Thrift of the Innovative Clean Energy Fund is Government Champion of the Year.
Winners from previous years include Moment Energy, Svante, Winecrush Technology, Clir Renewables, and Evok Innovations.
