One of British Columbia’s premier startup competitions is back. The 2025 New Ventures BC Competition is now accepting applications, offering early-stage tech companies the chance to compete for over $250,000 in cash and prizes.
Now in its 25th year, the competition has served as a launchpad for many of BC’s most promising tech startups. Since 2000, more than 4,200 companies have participated, collectively receiving mentorship, resources, and over $4 million in funding to help scale their businesses. Last year, 217 startups entered the competition, with Vancouver-based TIMEZYX taking the top prize.
Past participants continue to gain global recognition. Ionomr Innovations (2016 finalist) and pH7 Technologies (2021 finalist) were both named to the prestigious Global Cleantech 100 List this year.
Meanwhile, VoxCell BioInnovation, a 2022 third-place winner, outlasted more than 550 competitors to win Collision’s final PITCH competition.
The six-month competition features multiple elimination rounds, providing startups with mentorship, networking, and educational sessions. Finalists will compete for the top prizes, with winners announced later this year.
This year’s competition is part of the Road to Web Summit, a series of events leading up to Web Summit Vancouver. Applications are open until March 31, 2025.
