VoxCell BioInnovation Wins $10K Pitch at Web Summit Vancouver

May 30, 2025 by Techcouver Newsdesk Leave a Comment

Vancouver-based VoxCell BioInnovation has added another trophy to its shelf, winning The $10K Pitch: BC’s Startup All-Stars at Web Summit Vancouver this week.

The live competition featured 12 of British Columbia’s most promising startups, with VoxCell walking away with the $10,000 grand prize.

This marks VoxCell’s second major pitch competition victory in just over a year—following its win at Collision’s prestigious PITCH competition in 2024—solidifying the healthtech venture’s status as a rising star on the global startup stage.

In the finale, VoxCell outpitched fellow contenders GlüxKind, SkyAcres, and yPilot, impressing a panel of judges with its groundbreaking development of vascularized, human-like cancer tissue models. Designed to help pharmaceutical companies screen drug candidates earlier in the development cycle, VoxCell’s technology has the potential to accelerate life-saving treatments and reduce costly late-stage failures.

“These types of competitions help startups like ours break through the noise and prove we’re building something that matters,” said Karolina Valente, CEO and CSO of VoxCell. “This win gives us a strong signal to investors and customers alike, marking a real turning point for our business.”

The competition field featured 12 standout startups, each of whom had placed in the Top 10 of the New Ventures BC Competition within the last five years. After a preliminary round of short pitches, the top four advanced to a high-stakes finale in front of a live audience of global tech leaders and investors.

“We know these companies well from their time in the New Ventures BC Competition,” said Angie Schick, Executive Director at New Ventures BC. “But seeing them now—with stronger teams, bigger visions, and real traction—is a testament to the strength of B.C.’s startup ecosystem. Our startups are now pitching on international stages like Web Summit and catching the attention of the industry’s biggest investors.”
