The Vancouver Entrepreneurs Forum (VEF) is bringing back one of its most energizing events, now rebranded as Build Your Startup Dream Team: Co-Founder & Advisor Matchmaking.
Taking place on Tuesday, June 24 at UBC Robson Square, the evening is designed to help solo founders find the people they need to take their startups to the next level—whether that’s a technical co-founder, a business partner, or a strategic advisor.
Previously known as Co-Founder & Advisor Speed-Dating, the revamped event offers a more structured, high-impact networking experience for early-stage entrepreneurs and startup veterans alike.
Headlining the evening is a fireside chat with Tanis Jorge, startup veteran and author of The Cofounder’s Handbook. Jorge, who co-founded multiple successful ventures over the past two decades—all with the same partner—will share hard-won insights on how to build lasting and effective co-founder relationships.
The session will be moderated by Amy Rae, Partner at Vanedge Capital and VEF Board Member, and MC’d by Sherry Zhao, Founder of Strillence Strategic and also a VEF Board Member.
Participants selected for the matchmaking portion will have a chance to pitch their venture on stage in a tight 100-second format and then engage in rapid-fire, two-minute one-on-one meetings. Founders and advisors will be grouped to optimize potential fits, and companies will also have the chance to showcase their innovations through on-site booths.
Color-coded badges will make networking easier by identifying participants as looking for a technical co-founder, a business co-founder, or an advisor with specific expertise.
The event is targeted at solo founders, advisors interested in joining boards, and technical professionals or entrepreneurs looking to join forces with promising ventures.
Applications are now open for those interested in pitching and participating in matchmaking. The event runs from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on June 24, and space is limited.
