A new generation of startup builders will gather in Vancouver on Thursday, August 21st for BC Founders Day, a one-of-a-kind event created to connect current and aspiring founders with some of the province’s most experienced entrepreneurs.
Organized by four-time founder–turned–venture capitalist Chris Neumann, BC Founders Day is designed as a highly focused day of learning, mentorship, and celebration for startup founders across British Columbia.
“What would happen if we put dozens of experienced startup founders in the same room as B.C.’s most ambitious new ones?” Neumann asks. BC Founders Day is the answer.
The event unfolds in three parts:
- A mini-conference featuring seasoned founders sharing candid lessons from their own startup journeys
- Founder-only office hours, where attendees can connect directly with speakers and mentors for advice and support
- A networking event at GoodCo on Granville, open to the broader startup ecosystem, including investors and supporters
While the evening social is open to all, the daytime programming is exclusively for startup founders—including students and aspiring founders. Attendees must submit their LinkedIn profile when registering, and all applications are reviewed to ensure participants are current or former founders.
During office hours—one of the day’s most unique elements—veteran founders will be easy to spot, wearing bright Hawaiian leis. Founders can approach them with questions about everything from fundraising to team dynamics.
Participation in BC Founders Day is free, thanks to the generous support of sponsors Fasken, Google Cloud, RBCx, and Launch. Food and drinks will be available for purchase during the office hours and evening event.
Neumann, who writes a weekly newsletter on startups and venture capital, launched BC Founders Day with the goal of strengthening ties across the province’s startup ecosystem. The result is a rare space that’s built by founders, for founders—and focused entirely on peer-to-peer support.
