LōD Joins Google Startup Accelerator at Intersection of Energy, AI, and Compute

September 4, 2025 by Knowlton Thomas Leave a Comment

Earlier this year, Google began accepting applications for an inaugural Google for Startups Accelerator program.

The new stream, “AI for Energy,” promises its cohorts an “intensive” 10-week period of group learning sessions, mentorship, and access to AI tools and Google Cloud infrastructure, all supported by hands-on technical experts and specialists.

“This is more than just a program,” says Adam Elman, Sustainability Director at Google. “It’s a commitment to accelerating the essential shift to a clean and resilient energy grid.”

Google believes AI is a “pivotal force in accelerating the essential energy transition.” The 2025 cohort brings together companies developing AI-driven solutions across the entire energy value chain.

Among them, Vancouver-based LōD Technologies has been accepted into the inaugural North American cohort of the “Google for Startups: AI for Energy” program.

“These groundbreaking companies are leveraging AI to create solutions that span the entire energy value chain,” said Elman, “from electricity generation to grid operations and flexibility.”

LōD is a member of the BC Tech Association.

LōD is focused on making energy and AI strategic assets for the world’s most demanding operations. The upstart’s offering is based on two flagship products, LōD and ClōD, which are designed to empower organizations to cut costs, protect uptime, and scale responsibly.

LōD’s Energy Intelligence platform targets Bitcoin mining operations and high-consumption data centres with real-time curtailment, automation, and transparent compliance.

ClōD, meanwhile, is an “AI inference” solution focused on AI governance and privacy, ensuring that companies that build with AI do so responsibly, securely, and “in alignment with human and corporate needs.”

LōD Technologies’ dual focus is about treating both energy and AI as strategic assets for the next generation of compute infrastructure, according to company cofounder and chief executive officer Medi Naseri.

“At LōD, we see two clear priorities for the future: optimizing energy for flexible compute and governing AI responsibly,” the entrepreneur says.

Through completion of the AI for Energy program, Naseri predicts his team will be able to scale and advance their technologies, thereby strengthening the company’s position “at the intersection of energy, AI, and large-scale compute.”

“Being selected for Google’s AI for Energy Accelerator is both a milestone and a validation of our mission,” the entrepreneur remarked.

“With Google’s support, we’re scaling both sides of [our] vision,” Naseri continued, “helping operators cut costs and protect margins, while also ensuring AI develops with accountability and trust at its core.”
