Osler Marks a Decade of Legal Leadership and Community Engagement in Vancouver’s Tech Sector

September 4, 2025 by Robert Lewis Leave a Comment

Law firm Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP is commemorating 10 years of growth contributing to the advancement of B.C.’s innovation economy.

Since establishing its Vancouver office in 2015 with a small team, Osler has grown to more than 130 professionals, including 65 lawyers. The firm has positioned itself as a trusted advisor on many of Canada’s most prominent technology transactions including Burnaby-based Clio’s US$900-million Series F financing, the largest growth equity round in Canadian history, and Clio’s subsequent US$1-billion acquisition of vLex.

“Congratulations to the Osler team on this incredible milestone! As a key member of the B.C. Tech community, your contributions have helped strengthen our innovation economy and support local companies on their scale-up journeys. We’re proud to partner with you and excited to celebrate this next chapter together,” said Jill Tipping, CEO at BC Tech Association.

Mark Longo

Mark Longo, Managing Partner of the Vancouver office, founded Osler’s Vancouver office with an initial focus on the tech sector, joining Osler’s Emerging & High Growth Companies group as Co-Chair alongside Toronto-based partner Chad Bayne. Today, Osler works with technology companies and venture capital investors throughout their life cycle from startup to exit.

“Creative Destruction Lab has greatly benefited from Osler’s partnership and support of early-stage deep tech ventures, helping our founders navigate complex legal landscapes with confidence. Your commitment to innovation and entrepreneurship has played a vital role in advancing breakthrough science and technology across our program,” said Bree Stanlake, Site Director at CDL-Vancouver.

In addition to its transactional work, Osler’s lawyers actively mentor founders through accelerator programs, sponsor key ecosystem events, and provide pro bono legal support to mission-driven organizations.

“On behalf of Foresight Canada, I am thrilled to congratulate Osler and Vancouver Managing Partner Mark Longo on a remarkable decade of growth in Vancouver. Osler’s ongoing commitment to supporting Canada’s cleantech ecosystem, ventures, and investors, as well as Mark’s invaluable support as a founding member of Foresight Canada’s board of directors, is exemplary. We value our partnerships with Osler and look forward to many more years of working together to build a resilient economy,” said Jeanette Jackson, former CEO at Foresight Canada, currently Board Member and Strategic Advisor.

The relationships developed with clients over the past decade have been instrumental to Osler’s success.

“I’ve known Mark Longo and Justin Young since they first teamed up to launch Osler’s Vancouver office a decade ago,” said Minh Le, Managing Director, Venture Banking, Pacific Northwest at Stifel Venture Banking.

“They had already built impressive careers serving founders, and they saw an opportunity to bring Osler’s deep tech expertise to support B.C.’s growing innovation ecosystem. That founding energy still defines the office today. Congratulations to the Osler Vancouver team on 10 years of impact.”

Looking forward, Osler intends to further support the next generation of British Columbia’s startup and scale-up companies. For additional insights into Osler’s journey and its vision for the future, watch a special video message from Vancouver Managing Partner Mark Longo.

Based on the achievements of the past decade, Osler is well positioned to remain a cornerstone of British Columbia’s technology community for years to come.
