British Columbia’s cleantech sector is strongly represented among the finalists for the inaugural Canadian Cleantech Awards, with a slate of BC-based companies and organizations earning national recognition for climate innovation and ecosystem leadership.
Presented by Foresight Canada, the awards mark the first nationwide program dedicated to celebrating ventures, adopters, funders, and ecosystem builders accelerating Canada’s transition to a net-zero economy.
BC finalists appear across nearly every major category, underscoring the province’s growing influence in climate technology and sustainable industry.
Among the standout BC contenders:
Adopter of the Year
Ecosystem Supporter of the Year
Funder of the Year
Startup Venture of the Year
Scale-up Venture of the Year
Winners will be announced May 13 at the Climate Innovation Zone during Web Summit Vancouver, positioning Canadian climate innovators in front of global investors, partners, and industry leaders.
The Zone is delivered in partnership with NorthX Climate Tech, Innovate BC, Alacrity Canada, Canada’s Oil Sands Innovation Alliance (CRIN), and Simon Fraser University.
Web Summit Vancouver’s 2025 debut drew more than 15,000 attendees from 117 countries, including over 680 investors and 1,100 startups, rapidly establishing the event as a major global convening point for technology and climate capital.
The national awards program builds on Foresight’s regional foundations, which began with the BC Cleantech Awards in 2020 before expanding into Alberta and Atlantic Canada. The unified national platform reflects the accelerating scale and ambition of Canada’s cleantech sector.
“This year’s finalists represent an impressive array of technologies, leaders, ecosystem supporters, and investors driving a more resilient Canadian economy through innovation,” said David Sanguinetti, Interim CEO of Foresight Canada. “We’re proud to showcase their work on a global stage and look forward to announcing the winners at Web Summit Vancouver.”
