Photonic Names Don Mattrick CEO as Quantum Firm Eyes Commercialization

March 13, 2026 by Techcouver Newsdesk Leave a Comment

Vancouver-based quantum technology company Photonic has reshaped its leadership team as it moves toward the commercialization of its quantum computing and networking platform.

The company announced that longtime investor Don Mattrick has been appointed Chief Executive Officer, while Paul Terry will take on the role of Chief Product Officer. The leadership changes are intended to strengthen Photonic’s go-to-market capabilities as it prepares to bring its technology to market.

The announcement follows the $180 million first close of Photonic’s latest financing round. The round was led by Planet First Partners and included new investors Royal Bank of Canada and TELUS. Existing backers including BCI and Microsoft also participated. With the raise, Photonic has now secured a total of $375 million in funding.

As CEO, Mattrick will focus on guiding the company through its next stage of growth, including scaling commercial operations and expanding industry partnerships.

He later served as CEO of Zynga as the social gaming company transitioned toward mobile.
