Miraterra Raises $16M for Soil Intelligence Platform

March 25, 2026 by Robert Lewis Leave a Comment

Vancouver-based agtech company Miraterra has raised $16 million in an oversubscribed funding round to scale its AI-powered soil intelligence platform.

The round, originally structured at $13.9 million, exceeded its target and was led by At One Ventures, with participation from Farm Credit Canada, S2G Investments, the Sitka Foundation, and iSelect.

Miraterra is building what it describes as a full-stack measurement platform for soil, combining spectroscopy, genomics, and machine learning to generate more comprehensive environmental data. Its “Digitizer” device integrates Raman spectroscopy and AI to analyze soil and food, aiming to improve how agricultural systems are measured and managed.

The company is targeting a longstanding gap in agriculture and climate markets: accurate, scalable measurement of soil health and environmental impact. As demand grows for reliable measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV), platforms capable of integrating biological, chemical, and physical data are becoming increasingly important.

“The hidden half of the biosphere is beneath our feet,” said Tom Chi, founding partner at At One Ventures. “What Miraterra is doing differently is integrating mineralogical, hydrological, and biological data into a single, scalable measurement platform.”

The funding builds on Miraterra’s 2025 acquisition of assets from U.S.-based Trace Genomics, including intellectual property, analytical tools, and laboratory facilities in Ames, Iowa. The deal expanded the company’s capabilities in soil biology and DNA sequencing, while establishing a cross-border footprint.

With the new capital, Miraterra plans to accelerate the commercial rollout of its platform, expand measurement beyond soil to plants and food, and scale its AI and data science capabilities.

The raise comes as governments and industry place increasing emphasis on climate-smart agriculture and data-driven productivity, with soil emerging as a critical but historically under-measured layer of the global food system.
