Victoria’s Tech Ecosystem Shines Under Western Neon Lights at Annual Awards

April 3, 2026 by Knowlton Thomas Leave a Comment

The Victoria Innovation, Advanced Technology, and Entrepreneurship Council hosted its iconic Awards Gala on Wednesday evening at the Victoria Conference Centre.

The annual event brought together more than 500 members of the region’s thriving technology community.

Under a “Western Neon” theme, and across 14 categories, the “dazzling” affair celebrated the companies and people shaping Greater Victoria’s technology sector.

“Victoria’s tech sector continues to outperform expectations, and the VIATEC Awards are a chance to recognize the people and companies driving that progress,” remarked VIATEC chief executive officer Dan Gunn.

“What stands out most is not just the growth, but the strength of this community,” Gunn continued. “Leaders here are building globally competitive companies while showing up locally to support each other—that combination is what makes this ecosystem so resilient and so exciting right now.”

Company of the Year went to Atreides Caseri, which recently received more than $2M from Pacific Economic Development Canada to commercialize an AI-powered software platform that improves how unmanned systems collect, share, and analyze data across land, air, and maritime environments.

Meanwhile, MarineLabs—a developer of a network of connected sensors that deliver weather data which recently garnered $4M from BDC Capital’s Sustainability Venture Fund—was recognized as Employer of the Year.
