Ritchie Bros. Rebuilds Mobile App for Bidding on the Go

August 24, 2026 by Techcouver Newsdesk Leave a Comment

Ritchie Bros. is putting more of its global heavy-equipment marketplace into buyers’ pockets with the launch of a redesigned mobile app.

The Vancouver-born company, now part of RB Global, says the update transforms its app from a browsing companion into a native bidding and transaction platform, giving mobile users the same bidding capabilities available on desktop.

Developed in response to buyer feedback, the new app allows users to search inventory, monitor watchlists, confirm bidding limits and participate in auctions without being redirected to a web browser.

“Our buyers operate in fast-paced, high-stakes environments where split-second decisions dictate business success,” said Shiv Dutt, Executive Vice President and Head of RB Marketplaces at Ritchie Bros.

Dutt said the investment is designed to modernize the customer experience while making the company’s inventory easier to access from jobsites, in transit or elsewhere.

Among the app’s additions is Bid Focus Mode, which enables buyers to place bids directly from search results and listings while receiving immediate updates when they are winning or have been outbid.

A Live Auctions feature allows users to follow closing lots in real time and submit a bid with one tap. Smarter search suggestions and an updated browsing experience are intended to make relevant inventory easier to find.

Listings now include revamped inspection reports and full photo libraries, while a consolidated My RB tab brings together bids, watchlist items and saved searches. The tab also surfaces newly listed equipment that matches a user’s saved criteria.

Ritchie Bros. says early testing pointed to stronger engagement among mobile buyers. Pre-launch participants moved items from search results to their watchlists at more than twice the rate seen on the company’s web platform, with watchlisted items subsequently receiving bids within 14 days.

The redesigned app is part of a broader effort to increase participation across a marketplace that receives more than 120 million visits annually.

Ritchie Bros. connects buyers and sellers across sectors including construction, transportation, agriculture, energy, mining and forestry. Its parent company, RB Global, also operates brands including IronPlanet, BigIron, Rouse Services and SmartEquip.

The updated Ritchie Bros. app is available now for iOS and Android and supports more than 10 languages.
