Digital Tech Aims to Create New Routes Between Business and Consumer

September 10, 2026 by Knowlton Thomas Leave a Comment

A Canadian technology company is proposing that businesses should not have to depend on a single market, political relationship, or traditional distribution channel to reach customers.

It’s a tall ask in an era of global political and economic uncertainty.

Vancouver-based Picturethis3D sees one solution through its vision of “Commerce Without Borders.”

The concept of Commerce Without Borders is enabled through what Picturethis3D describes as “Spatial Commerce.”

Spatial Commerce is an AI-powered approach connecting accurate digital properties with real products, services, and purchasing decisions, according to Picturethis3D founder Eevi Jensen.

“We can’t take politics out of trade,” says Jensen, “But we can use technology to reduce the dependence of commerce on geography, traditional distribution channels, and any single market.”

The objective is not to eliminate borders or tariffs, according to Jensen, but rather to use digital technology to create additional pathways connecting manufacturers and consumers which are less constrained by geography and traditional physical market-entry models.

For example, manufacturers of furniture, flooring, appliances, and other home products have traditionally relied on physical showrooms, dealer networks, and established distribution channels to enter and serve markets; Picturethis3D is developing another option.

Through Spatial Commerce, manufacturers can digitize products and make them available within accurate digital representations of real properties, allowing consumers to experience products in the context of the spaces where they may ultimately be used.

While conventional 3D visualization brings the room into a shopping environment, Spatial Commerce is “fundamentally different,” reversing the relationship to bring the shopping environment into a digital property.

“Our vision is to bring the showroom into the customer’s home,” Jensen stated. “Digitize a product once and create opportunities for it to be discovered across multiple markets.”

Spatial Commerce cannot remove the physical requirements of manufacturing, shipping, customs, or regulatory compliance, the chief executive officer acknowledges. But it can reduce the importance of geography during product discovery, visualization, and purchasing, allowing manufacturers to enter new markets with lower barriers.

Pt3D also sells a Digital Property Manual product which keeps everything close at hand in one platform designed for property management and safety. The digitized manual can text you when a warranty is about to expire, when a filter needs changing, and more.
