ZenaTech Continues Acquisition Spree to Innovate Land Surveying with Drones

November 3, 2026 by Knowlton Thomas Leave a Comment

ZenaTech is continuing its acquisition spree.

The publicly traded, Vancouver-based drone technology innovator has made more than 30 strategic acquisitions so far.

ZenaTech is best known for ZenaDrone, the company’s Drones-as-a-Service business.

The firm’s latest buys—Byrne Consultants and Hopkins Consultants—are situated in Australia, a region where ZenaTech is seeking to expand its global footprint.

“Every surveying firm we acquire brings added value and new revenue streams through established clients and licensed surveyors,” explains chief executive officer Shaun Passley.

“We expect that the continued development of our AI-driven methodology will give those teams significantly expanded capacity to continue to drive the company’s growth,” he commented.

Using conventional methods, a land surveyor typically takes 250 to 300 hour of field work to complete a site. Capturing the same site by drone requires approximately 65 hours, according to Passley.

Beyond hardware, ZenaTech’s AI addresses another constraint: the office work after the drone lands. Proprietary software is designed to automate point cloud classification and feature extraction with the potential to reduce post-processing workflows by up to 80% (based on internal estimates).

“Drones shorten the time in the field, and our AI is designed to shorten the time in the office,” Passley said.

“The combination of shortened workflow with consistency across our network will allow the completion of more projects with the same crews and grow the recurring revenue base, which is at the centre of our DaaS strategy,” he stated.

ZenaTech now boasts seven DaaS locations across Australia.

Products from ZenaTech include the rugged ZenaDrone 1000, a military-grade drone tested by U.S. Air Force and Navy Reserve that can carry up to 40 kilograms.

There is also the IQ Nano, which is designed for indoor applications, built to operate in environments without GPS like warehouses or military facilities, targeting use cases such as inventory management and security surveillance.

The IQ Square, another offering, is engineered for land surveys, infrastructure inspections, road and bridge inspections, and defence reconnaissance tasks.

ZenaTech was originally founded in 2017 as ZenaPay, a crypto fintech firm. Shares in the company are down 75% in 2026.
