From optical connections for AI data centres to batteries built for extreme cold, 17 UBC companies will take the stage at Innovation UBC’s 2026 Venture Showcase on December 1 at UBC Robson Square.
The lineup brings together ventures from UBC’s Vancouver and Okanagan campuses working across biotech, medical devices, clean technology, mining, hardware, software, and AI. Seven companies come from Innovation UBC’s Venture Founder program and 10 from HATCH Venture Builder.
Among the companies in the Ready to Raise category is Dream Photonics, which uses high-resolution 3D printing to create micro-optics connecting lasers, fibres, and photonic chips. Narval Energy is developing internally heated battery systems designed to deliver power and charge at temperatures as low as −40°C.
Health ventures include CheckMark, which connects pharmacy-based skin imaging with dermatologist reviews, and Chondros Bio, which is commercializing a biodegradable hydrogel implant intended to repair cartilage and bone in damaged knees.
Earlier-stage presenters include Novofrac Solutions, developing blast-free hard-rock mining technology, and UBC Okanagan’s CemO2 Technologies, which turns industrial byproducts and waste biomass into materials for lower-carbon concrete.
Companies will present across three categories reflecting their stage of development: Sneak a Peek, Ones to Watch, and Ready to Raise. The latter features ventures seeking seed through Series A financing.
This year’s program welcomes investors, industry partners, government representatives, and the broader UBC community. Doors open at 4 p.m., with pitches beginning at 5 p.m. and the evening concluding at 7:30 p.m.
