Last year, Techcouver reported on the niche “water tech” market in British Columbia.
Invest Vancouver believes water tech “provides an untapped economic opportunity for the Metro Vancouver region,” serving a multi-billion dollar global market.
The organization’s 2022 report, “Water Tech: The Metro Vancouver Region’s Untapped Clean Tech Opportunity,” provided BC with an overview of the region’s opportunities and challenges in the sector.
It also identified solutions, including those coming from technology-forward upstarts.
Among those was infinitii ai, which at the time of the report had recently rebranded from Carl Data Solutions.
Originally founded in 2014, the BC company provides environmental monitoring to many of the largest water infrastructure utilities in the US and Canada, leveraging an AI-driven predictive analytics which is utilized by Smart City and Smart Industry infrastructure operations that rely on time-series data.
This year, infinitii ai is continuing its path forward. The company recently announced the first sale of its infinitii flowworks pro Machine Learning software.
Through a strategic partnership with SCG Flowmetrix Technical Services, the software will power a project from the Region of Peel in Ontario, according to a statement from the company.
“We’ve been working with infinitii ai since 2016 starting with the City of Toronto on Sewer and Rainfall monitoring projects,” stated Sam Mills, Vice President at SCG Flowmetrix, which is based in Concord, Ontario.
The Region of Peel provides water and wastewater services to 1.5 million residents and 175,000 businesses in the City of Brampton, City of Mississauga, and Town of Caledon—and handles 240 billion litres of water per year, equivalent to 263 Olympic swimming pools each day, through nearly 4,000 kilometres of pipe.
“As our partnership expanded we noted infinitii ai’s R&D push into Machine Learning, with the ability to deliver highly accurate and insightful flow measurement-related data for capacity assessments, inflow and infiltration studies, and water loss control,” added Mills.
“infinitii ai’s record sale to the Region of Peel is evidence of our strengthened partnership with SCG Flowmetrix,” believes Jean Charles Phaneuf, CEO of infinitii ai. “The highly complementary combination of our cutting-edge software with their advanced engineering technology and consulting services has resulted in this win.”
Launched in October at the WEFTEC 2022 water industry trade show in New Orleans, flowworks pro offers advanced Machine Learning capabilities, according to the company—including infinitii face pro, a “streaming analytics application for data transformation that allows users to add logic and algorithms for real-time processing and operationalizing production-ready models generating new data or output events including predictions.”
“This sales achievement is a precursor for 2023 and validation of the new AI-driven product portfolio for water infrastructure projects,” stated Phaneuf.
