The finalists for the 2022 BC Cleantech Awards have been announced. Chosen from more than 140 nominations, these individuals and organizations reflect the best of BC cleantech.
The BC Cleantech Awards ceremony is a hybrid event, with finalists and program partners gathering in downtown Vancouver, and everyone in the broader cleantech community invited to join virtually on March 24th.
Among the companies nominated in for the Rising Star Award are Ekona Power, Hydra Energy, MarineLabs, Moment Energy, Solaires Entreprises, and Viridis Research. The Rising Star Award will be presented to an emerging cleantech company on the move, making things happen.
Techcouver named Moment Energy one of Vancouver’s homegrown startups to watch in 2022 after the clean energy startup raised a $3.5 million seed round in 2021 led by Vancouver’s Version One Ventures.
Co-founded by four young and diverse entrepreneurs from British Columbia, Moment Energy creates sustainable energy storage systems by repurposing retired electric vehicle batteries. Their solution has been installed in off-grid areas to reduce diesel consumption and enables a transition to renewable energy.
Nominated for the Thriving Company Award are HTEC, Ionomr, Loop Energy, Novarc Technologies, and Okos Smart Homes. The Thriving Company Award will go to a growing cleantech venture that is connecting with customers and contributing climate solutions.
Ionomr and rising star Ekona Power were two of the 13 Canadian companies named to the prestigious 2022 Global Cleantech 100 list last month.
Other BC Cleantech Award categories include Industry Icon, Ecosystem Builder, Policy Maker, Top Educator, Transformation Advocate, Community Impact, Educational Institution, and Innovation Funder.
