TELUS Unveils ‘Future-Proofed’ Security Solution to Thwart Quantum Threats

November 17, 2025 by Knowlton Thomas Leave a Comment

TELUS continues to position itself as a provider of cybersecurity technology.

The Vancouver-based telecom titan this month unveiled a Quantum-Safe VPN service, which offers commercial Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) protection to Canadian businesses.

“As a leader in cybersecurity innovation, TELUS is taking the critical first step to deliver future-proof services to support our customers’ network security against the quantum threat,” commented Jodi Baxter, who serves TELUS as Vice-President of 5G & Industry Solutions.

Recognizing that quantum computers may become powerful enough to break existing encryption methods, thus posing a threat to data security, Baxter says TELUS is proactively delivering a solution that aims to protect customers tomorrow.

“We’re not waiting for quantum computers to become mainstream,” she said. “We’re enabling quantum-resistant security services today to support our customers in maintaining business continuity and long-term data protection.”

The new service, which uses advanced encryption technology integrated with the TELUS Managed Next Generation Firewall, delivers three key benefits, according to a statement from the company.

The first is enhanced customer security via the protection of private data against future cyber attacks.

The second is “future-proofed business continuity” through the long-term protection of intellectual property.

And the third is a simplified compliance setup to help clients contend with evolving regulations and standards.

“The quantum threat requires proactive action today, not reactive measures tomorrow,” says Carey Frey, who functions as Chief Security Officer at TELUS.

“By implementing quantum-resistant security measures now, organizations can take steps to protect their sensitive data against today’s sophisticated attacks and tomorrow’s quantum-powered threats,” Frey said.

TELUS Living, meanwhile, recently celebrated the groundbreaking of a new development in Vancouver’s Point Grey neighbourhood.

Located at 2608 Tolmie Street, the former Point Grey telephone exchange will be transformed into a six-storey mixed-use building featuring 55 purpose-built rental units and four retail spaces.

The suites will be powered by smart home technology through by TELUS’ PureFibre network.

And earlier this year, TELUS revealed plans to launch multiple “Sovereign AI Factories” in Canada as part of a $70B investment into “future-focused technology.”

Trading on the TSX as T, TELUS generates more than $20B in annual revenue across 20 million customers.
