Numia Brings Healthcare into Home with Launch of Pilot for Cancer Testing

August 31, 2026 by Knowlton Thomas Leave a Comment

Earlier this year, we reported on a startup based in Vancouver innovating broader accessibility to medical laboratory testing.

Numia Health, launched last year by chief executive officer Adrián Sahagún, utilizes licensed physicians and accredited Canadian labs to deliver real lab results, with professional blood testing handled from the comfort of one’s home.

Tests tracks up to 12 markers, such as Total Testosterone, Free Testosterone, SHBG (hormone balance), Estradiol (estrogen levels), TSH (thyroid function), Free T4 (thyroid hormone), Progesterone (cycle balance), Prolactin (reproductive health), AM Cortisol (stress response), PSA (prostate health), LH (ovarian signal), Ferritin (iron stores), Total Cholesterol (heart health), Prolactin (reproductive health), Triglycerides (blood fats), HDL (cholesterol removal), and LDL (cholesterol delivery).

This month, Numia revealed that it was named as the Canadian partner for a six-month pilot with YD Bio Limited and EG BioMed US.

YD Bio is a U.S.-anchored, publicly traded biotechnology company specializing in molecular diagnostics and precision medicine.

Focused on DNA methylation-based early cancer detection, EG BioMed US is the North American clinical-laboratory subsidiary of Taiwan-based EG BioMed.

The pilot will see Numia’s at-home collection system utilized for molecular cancer testing.

“The science is moving quickly, but a test still starts with a patient, a physician order, and a sample,” says Sahagún.

“Getting to a lab is not a quick errand,” the entrepreneur says, noting how “it can mean time off work or arranging transportation.”

“If the first step happens at home, that changes the experience,” Sahagún believes.

Numia “already helps people complete physician-ordered bloodwork at home without coordinating multiple providers,” the founder said. “This pilot asks whether that same model can support a more specialized pathway for molecular cancer testing.”

Numia healthcare professionals are fully licensed and certified in British Columbia, with personal and health information protected under Canadian privacy laws such as PIPEDA.
